Pyxel Edit has seen many changes and improvements since its first release, with major releases every few months. Its last major release is from April 25th, 2017. Mitja Sviderskëi is the only person who worked on pyxel edit so far and the only person who has access to its code repository and assets. Pyxel Edit's most important features: pyxel edit was originally written by Mitja Sviderskëi, but after his death in 2016, the development of pyxel edit stagnated for a year. In 2017, the development of pyxel edit was adopted under Jonathan 'Jet' Stebben.
